About the Job
A seamstress works in the fashion and textile industry, either independently, in retail, factories, boutiques, or for fashion designers. Their primary role is to construct, modify, and repair clothing and other fabric items, ensuring high-quality results that meet client needs and specifications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Consult with clients to understand their needs, preferences, and desired styles.
  • Measure and mark dimensions on fabrics to guide garment production.
  • Operate sewing machines or hand-stitch to join, hem, reinforce, or decorate garments.
  • Replace buttons, zippers, elastic, and other fasteners, and repair defective garment parts.
  • Alter clothing to improve fit or adjust style according to customer requests.
  • Inspect garments for defects such as tears, color inconsistencies, or misaligned seams.
  • Maintain and repair sewing machines and related equipment.
  • Keep accurate records of customer measurements, preferences, and completed orders.
  • Create custom garments or accessories based on sketches, patterns, or original designs.
  • Perform additional tasks such as embroidery, beadwork, or dyeing when required.
